Open Awareness Meditation
To encourage students to be open to all possible points of experience, guidance will be offered to cultivate open awareness of the world around and within us. We will learn how to work skillfully and non-reactively to each experience that arises.
Brief instruction, support, and focus for practice suggestions. Majority of the time for practice will be spent in silence with your own personal use of the space and support offered.
Breath & Body Meditation
Focus of breath awareness and body sensations to establish practice within the first foundation of Mindfulness.
Mindfulness in Poetry
Using the likes of Rumi, David Whyte, Mary Oliver, Naomi Shihab Nye, and John O’Donohue to deepen our meditation practice, we will listen to a minute of poetry and then dive within to witness our thoughts and reactions. Conscious that we are separate from these thought patterns, we can create the space to choose a response that better serves us.
Awakening the Senses
Sensory based meditation where the focus will be on the five senses- sight, smell, touch, taste, & hearing. Support will be offered on how to integrate these practices into everyday living.
Combining body awareness, Tibetan and crystal bowl healing, and movement to facilitate the cultivation of present moment awareness. End your week and begin your weekend with intentional dedication to your practice, while connecting to community.
This class will allow you to explore awareness to breath and body through the body in movement. Different postures will be explored to work with how mindfulness in movement can be practiced in life.
During each hour long talk, we present on themes within the core foundations of Mindfulness. There will be exploration, discussion and practice of the teaching principles within the Buddhist, secular, and science-based scope of learning Mindfulness.
On a regular basis, a teacher from the community will join us to teach on mindfulness meditation and the various ways it is experienced and taught through different practices and forms. Guided meditation, discussion and community sharing will be part of the evening event.
People with different fields of interest (music, quantum physics, psychology) will come to share about themes such as change, acceptance, trust, and being present. The participants will deeply listen and be periodically given moments to pause and reflect then share their experience. This is an opportunity to practice “meeting the present moment of interpersonal contact with mindfulness.” – Gregory Kramer
Human beings connect, transform, and heal though the art of music and dance. Join us for this monthly ritual that will begin with mindful awareness and progress towards free form movement with music! Shake, groove, shimmy, and let your spirit free as we engage in the intrinsic human need of dance!
It is our hope to offer care to any and all individuals seeking our services. In May of 2017, our office relocated to an upstairs suite in a building that is not currently equipped with an elevator. If you cannot use stairs, we are happy to try and arrange other accommodations so as to best serve your needs; such as conducting a meditation in close by Balboa Park. Please reach out to Rochelle@NewMindfulLife.com with inquiries about this issue. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may pose in seeking our care.
