Mindfulness Training in Nature
This online course is designed to support people who are looking to understand how to practice mindfulness, to connect to nature, to learn to develop daily formal practices and integrate mindfulness into everyday life experiences. The teachings and practices shared in this course will help you to heal mental, emotional and physical challenges in your life with the support of nature. You will also learn how to cultivate a deep sense of ecological awareness and learn ways to practice skillful living to support and heal our earth.
What is mindfulness in nature?
Mindfulness in nature is abiding in clear present awareness of nature’s wisdom in all directions of life
We will explore how to cultivate mindfulness in nature with various nature meditations to support deepening your personal practice and connection to nature.
How does in help?
Mindfulness allows us to be more present in the moment and when we practice mindfulness in nature we often are more easily present as a result of just being IN nature.
Nature itself has a way to alure our senses, cause us to take pause, awaken us to breathe more deeply and be more present to its unfolding rhythms. Practicing mindfulness in and with nature allows us to more easily experience the benefits of mindfulness.
We can draw from the external experiences of nature to aliven our own well-being to support our mindfulness meditation practice more deeply. Nature mindfulness practice gives us more opportunities to experience ease, rest, relaxation, calm, clarity, and openness in our practice and our lives.
Why try it?
Practicing nature mindfulness can help to support our inner resilience, our connection to the outer world, and our capacity to support one another. We can lower our stress and increase our well-being from the practice of mindfulness, but being in nature also supports lowering our stress and well-being. Both mindfulness AND nature can have direct effects on our physical, mental and emotional health. Combining the practices of mindfulness with the experiences of nature can offer us more opportunities to care for ourselves, deepen our mindfulness practice and connect more deeply to the earth to care for universal well-being.
How can it help our climate emergency?
As we deepen our practice of mindfulness in nature to heal ourselves- we learn we aren’t separate from nature and are of nature. If we experience health within through these practices in nature, we can be inspired to help heal nature, give her voice, and take loving actions to help. These three steps are ways to engage mindfulness with nature to protect our earth and will be explored as practice deepens in the course.
Stand Up, Be Kind, Act with Love
Stand up– when we realize that the beings (trees, flowers, plants, landscapes, animals, birds, insects, mother nature)- that we connect to through practice are asking us to Stand Up for them/her- We learn to see them/her, to be present with them/her, and represent them/her to make change for our planet
Be kind– when we realize that nature is giving, offering herself freely for our well-being and healing, we can be kind to her- learning to take care of her differently- with more awareness, heart and intention to be kind in our relationship and connection to her
Act with Love– when we realize that acts of love are what nature and all that is within mother nature is giving to us daily. The air we breathe, the ground we walk on, the sun that vitally helps us thrive, and the water that gives us life- this is love- unconditional- supporting us to be alive. With love we can act and heal the earth- learning to take actions to support loving her back with unconditional regard.
